While canless recessed lighting (also called LED wafer lights) offers a sleek and easy-to-install design, it does have a few drawbacks compared to traditional can-style fixtures. Because the LED module is integrated into the housing, the light source cannot be replaced individually, if the LED fails, the entire fixture must be replaced. These units also provide less flexibility in bulb selection and can present heat-dissipation challenges in tightly insulated ceilings or enclosed spaces. For long-term reliability, proper ventilation and choosing high-quality, IC-rated fixtures are essential.
