Is this proper to use in a Lithonia TWA 100M 120/277 Metal Halide wallpak? I presume leave in the reflector, and of course remove the transformer etc. Can I wire, in series with the existing photo cell? Heat, is what my concern is.

You should have no issue installing this corn bulb into a Lithonia wallpack. You would need to remove or bypass the ballast that is installed in the fixture. If there is an issue with space inside the unit, you may need to modify or remove the reflector in the housing. Heat will not be a problem, as they are rated for enclosed fixtures.
