The MR16 bulb is not discontinued, both halogen and LED MR16 formats are still available today for a wide range of lighting applications. The LED versions have become much more common because they use far less energy and last much longer, but you’ll still find halogen MR16s, especially in older installations. In some regions, certain halogen models may face restrictions or be phased out due to efficiency regulations, so it’s wise to check compatibility and local standards before buying.
