Sea turtles have limited sensitivity to red light because their eyes are not receptive to longer wavelengths. Instead, they are more responsive to blue and green light, which can easily disorient them. For this reason, red or amber lights are commonly used on turtle nesting beaches, allowing humans to see safely at night without disturbing nesting turtles or hatchlings. This makes red LED turtle lights an ideal choice for wildlife-safe coastal lighting.
