If one chooses to installation option of leaving the ballast in place, rather than re-wiring, is there still a redu LED T8 Universal Retrofit Bulb - 2 Foot - 10 Watt - 1000 Lumens - 4000K Cool White - Electronic T8 Ballast Compatible & Bypass Ballast

If one chooses to installation option of leaving the ballast in place, rather than re-wiring, is there still a reduction in energy usage? I have been told that if the ballast remains the amount of energy consumed is the same as with the original fluorescent tube because it is the ballast that is pulling the energy and not the LED replacement tube. Can someone please advise if this is true or not. I need to re-lamp a small workout facility which currently has about 50 fluorescent tubes located throughout the building. Thank you!

(T8-EZ6-GS-4FT-15W-50K-F)This is not true. The fluorescent tube pulls about 32 watt and the LED tube uses about 15-18 watt. A ballast will draw about 5 watt so the savings from removing the ballast is there but it does not affect the actual savings from the tubes.
