Exit signs must be installed in locations where they are clearly visible from any direction of exit access, with no point in a corridor being more than 100 feet from the nearest visible sign. Signs must be located at every exit door and at locations where the direction of travel to the exit is not immediately apparent, as required by codes such as the International Building Code (IBC) and NFPA 101.
