Most high bay retrofit bulbs are Type B (ballast bypass), meaning the old ballast must be removed or disconnected. This is important because HID ballasts are not compatible with LED drivers. Once the ballast is bypassed, the LED bulb connects directly to line voltage (120–277V or 347/480V depending on model). Ballast bypass ensures maximum performance, reliability, and efficiency.
